Grants Available for Senior Projects
Senior projects are a great way to give back to the community and wrap up your senior. But picking the “perfect” project can be daunting. The project you pick should benefit the community and allow you to explore your interests. If you don’t know where to start, here are 10 senior project ideas that will hopefully inspire you when the time comes to make a decision:
Implementing a recycling system in the school
Creating a mural that documents something important that happened to the school or the community
Teaching a free class to little kids (an instrument, an art class, a language class, etc.) and then have a performance/art show to wrap up the class.
Something related to senior citizens (make something/raise money to buy something for them to make them feel less alone)
Collaborate with the News Examiner and write about things going on in the school, or have a section where people can ask you questions and you give honest advice
Raise money for a certain charity
Raise money to plant a community garden
Organize a group to do a few days of cleaning up the community
Make a short film/ documentary about the community
Organize an adoption day for pets in neighboring shelters
Once you choose a project, you may run into trouble getting funding. Don’t worry; if you submit a funding application to the Bear Lake Education Foundation, they can give you the money you need. Projects are funded based on the following criteria:
Availability of funds (how much money BLEF has at the moment)
Impact on or benefits for the community
How long-term the impact or benefits will be felt by the community
Ability to secure additional funds to finish the project (whether or not you can easily get funds from other sources)
Here’s the application form:
If your application gets denied, Bear Lake Memorial Hospital also funds senior projects. Good luck!
