There is always a lot going on at Bear Lake High School, So we decided to put it all in a blog post to make it simpler for everyone. From sports, to the classroom, we are going to give weekly updates on what is happening in our school. Boy's Basketball: The bears return to state after a one-year absence where they won the consolation championship in their last appearance in 2019. The Bears beat number 1 seed West Side twice in two days to avenge an earlier district tournament loss to the pirates and take the District 5 championship. The Bears will play Ambrose in the first round of the state tournament Thursday March 4th.

Cheer: To wrap up the last couple of weeks of the cheer season the girls will be heading to Boise for State March 19th. They will be taking an individual Pom and Sideline routine as well as taking an individual stunt group for the stunting category.

Softball: The Bear Lake Lady Bears softball team had tryouts on Saturday, February 27, and again on Monday, March 1st. Along with Head Coach Hillier, and Assistant Coach Cook, we are excited to start this season out with a great set of girls on both the varsity and J.V. teams! We hope that you will come out and join us at our first game of the season on March 16th in Preston, and we wish them all the best of luck!

Baseball: The Bear Lake’s 2021 baseball team is coached by Coach Culver and Coach Laforya. Open gyms are on Wednesday and Thursday until tryouts which are Monday the 8th of March.

4/10 South Fremont @ St.Anthony

Rodeo: We are pretty sure the first rodeo starts in May but we don't know for sure.


Golf: Golf had their first practice on March 1st. We are excited to start out the season. Their first meet will be on March 24 held in Aberdeen both JV/Varsity. We hope you the best of luck.


Track: Track had their first practice on March 2nd. They will have their first meet on Thursday, March 18th. It will be held at Snake River High School. We wish them the best of luck. We are excited to start out the season! Bear Lake Strong!

Obscure holidays: Dr.Seuss’s birthday/Dr.Seuss day held on March 2nd is a holiday held in honor of the famous children's book writer and creator of the "Cat in the Hat". Today he turns 87 years old.

Spring has Sprung!

  Cheer: Cheer went to Boise over the weekend to complete. They did not place in the top three but still did amazing! You go Ladies!!! Tryouts for next year will be held on April 27-30. They will start at 6-30 pm. Softball - Varsity played great in Firth and Wendell last week  winning 18 to 3 in firth and 14 to 3 in Wendell and losing 9 to 8 in Preston and the JV losing 13 to 15 in Preston but having an amazing comeback. This week they are playing in Idaho Falls on Friday. Lakettes - The ladies finished up their season at districts at American Falls taking 3rd place in hip-hop and 4th in lyrical but sadly they did not make it to state. The Lakettes are going over to the middle school April 8th to go perform for the upcoming freshman class. They are then holding tryouts April 12th, 13th, 15th, and 19th from 5-7 in the A.J.   Teacher feature- Rick Sanders -He started working here in 2009 and hopes to retire here. He enjoys working here and Loves his subject. He teaches P.E. Health and athletic training as well as teaching he coaches. Mr Sanders coaches cross country and boys basketball he coached a winning girls cross country team this year the girls team came in first in state and his boys basketball team got 3rd at state! -His favorite color is blue and his Middle name L his favorite animal is a horse he loves to go backpacking on horses in his spare time and he just loves being outdoors. He loves living in a small town and loves any outdoor activity. His all time favorite sport is football and he has a family he is married with five kids. He is overall a great teacher and coach!!!!!! Another Homecoming for the books!

Homecoming last week was a blast, but the fun doesn't end there! Just to wrap up last week, in cased you missed the homecoming football game, the winners of the homecoming royalty were Hattie Mattson and Chance Kearl for the juniors, and Hallie Skinner and Gabe Hillier for the Seniors. Congratulations to the winners and nominees! Unfortunately, we lost the game to the Firth Cougars 40-19, but before the game started we had a 9/11 tribute. All of our football players walked out to the field carrying flags while the band played the national anthem for us.  On Saturday, the cross country team went the the Tiger Grizz invitational on the Freeman Park in Idaho Falls. In the women's varsity race Elise Kelsey, Kinsee Hansen, and Elli Kelsey place in the top 20, and Katelyn Crane ran the JV race and took second! The boys ran well too, the top JV boys were Matthew Holmquist, Gabe Hillier, and TR Boehme, and the top varsity boys were Tyler Saunders, Taylor Roberts, and Sam Gertler.  This
