Time To Hang A New Banner!!!


 Bear Lake Bears! We had some really exciting wins this week! 

Cross country last week ran in Pocatello at the state meet. For the past 14 years Soda Springs has taken 1st in state, but this year, after training for a long and hard season, our Bear Lake girls cross country team won state by 26 points! That's the first cross country state championship the Bears have won since the year 2008, clear back when we competed in 3A sports! Congratulations girls and Tyler Saunders on the great races!

The Volleyball team last week went to Buhl for the State Tournament, after winning the District Tournament last week. They played Firth, Napa Christian, and West Side. Against Firth they won three sets to zero, Napa Christian they won three sets to zero which was the semi final game, and then unfortunately lost to West Side in five sets in the Championship game. They also won the Sportsmanship award`. Great job lady bears and congratulations on the great season!


Football beat West Jefferson 36-22 in the opening round of the 2A state football tournament. They play against the Firth Cougars this week. The last time the Bears played Firth was this year in Bear Lake. The game was close in the first half, however Firth pulled away in the second half for a 40-19 victory over the Bears. Bear Lake comes into the game with a 5-4 record, while Firth is 6-3 so far this year. The game is slated for a 3 pm kickoff on Friday in Firth. Good luck Bears!

ill be on November 14th. Good luck to all those participating! 

The Sadie Hawkins is unfortunately postponed for COVID till further notice. We will keep you updated on that.

  1.  What high school did you graduate from? Laramie High School

  2. How long have you been teaching? Too long. 25 years.

  3. What brought you to Bear Lake? Just my first job. I had another job in Wyoming but being a baseball coach came with it. Also Bear Lake is cool. 

  4. Have you taught anywhere else? Nope.

  5. When you were younger did you imagine you would be a teacher?/ What was your dream job? Yes. I wanted to be a teacher.

  6. What was your favorite subject in school? Math

  7. What is your favorite part of being a teacher? The big salary.

  8. What is your least favorite part of being a teacher? The kids.

  9. What school would you like to teach at other than Bear Lake? I don’t wanna leave here. I’ve had chances, but I’ve always stayed. I love it here.

  10. What extracurricular activities were you interested in, in high school? Football, Wrestling, Baseball, Soccer, Art Club

  11. What do you like to do in your free time? Hunt, fish, backpacking, golf

Spring has Sprung!

  Cheer: Cheer went to Boise over the weekend to complete. They did not place in the top three but still did amazing! You go Ladies!!! Tryouts for next year will be held on April 27-30. They will start at 6-30 pm. Softball - Varsity played great in Firth and Wendell last week  winning 18 to 3 in firth and 14 to 3 in Wendell and losing 9 to 8 in Preston and the JV losing 13 to 15 in Preston but having an amazing comeback. This week they are playing in Idaho Falls on Friday. Lakettes - The ladies finished up their season at districts at American Falls taking 3rd place in hip-hop and 4th in lyrical but sadly they did not make it to state. The Lakettes are going over to the middle school April 8th to go perform for the upcoming freshman class. They are then holding tryouts April 12th, 13th, 15th, and 19th from 5-7 in the A.J.   Teacher feature- Rick Sanders -He started working here in 2009 and hopes to retire here. He enjoys working here and Loves his subject. He teaches P.E. Health and athletic training as well as teaching he coaches. Mr Sanders coaches cross country and boys basketball he coached a winning girls cross country team this year the girls team came in first in state and his boys basketball team got 3rd at state! -His favorite color is blue and his Middle name L his favorite animal is a horse he loves to go backpacking on horses in his spare time and he just loves being outdoors.    There is always a lot going on at Bear Lake High School, So we decided to put it all in a blog post to ma ke it simpler for everyone. The Bears beat number 1 seed West Side twice in two days to avenge an earlier district tournament loss to the pirates and take the District 5 championship. The Bears will play Ambrose in the first round of the state tournament Thursday March 4th.
