Bears Slay Dragons, Look to Bag Cardinals!

 Bear Lake Bears! 

First off, the service a thon went very well! Our school helped with highway clean up, painting around town, and gardening at the hospital.  Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make our community a better place for everyone!

Last week volleyball did really well and beat both Aberdeen and Malad This week, there is a volleyball game in Soda on Thursday, C-Team starts at 5, JV at 6 and Varsity at 7.  After that districts begins on Saturday in West Side. The Lady Bears still hold #1 ranking in the state.

Football played Malad last week and won 20 to 8. Defense did well, only allowing one touchdown.  Jaxon Garbett had two out of Bear Lake's 3 interceptions. This week they face the Soda Springs Cardinals on Friday in Soda, with JV starting at 4 and Varsity at 7. 

Cross country ran at the Bob Conley last week which was in Pocatello. The majority of our runners either set a season record or a personal record. The girls team is now very close in Hypothetical ratings to the #1 spot. This week they will go run at the Preston invitational on Wednesday. 

FFA this week has a few freshmen that will be going to Burley for the State Soils competition on Wednesday. 







The Sadie Hawkins dance is less than a month away. It is November 7th from 7-10 pm so make sure you get your dates. If you don't know who to take, refer to Miss Biss because she has the list.

Spring has Sprung!

  Cheer: Cheer went to Boise over the weekend to complete. They did not place in the top three but still did amazing! You go Ladies!!! Tryouts for next year will be held on April 27-30. They will start at 6-30 pm. Softball - Varsity played great in Firth and Wendell last week  winning 18 to 3 in firth and 14 to 3 in Wendell and losing 9 to 8 in Preston and the JV losing 13 to 15 in Preston but having an amazing comeback. This week they are playing in Idaho Falls on Friday. Lakettes - The ladies finished up their season at districts at American Falls taking 3rd place in hip-hop and 4th in lyrical but sadly they did not make it to state. The Lakettes are going over to the middle school April 8th to go perform for the upcoming freshman class. They are then holding tryouts April 12th, 13th, 15th, and 19th from 5-7 in the A.J.   Teacher feature- Rick Sanders -He started working here in 2009 and hopes to retire here. He enjoys working here and Loves his subject. He teaches P.E. Health and athletic training as well as teaching he coaches. Mr Sanders coaches cross country and boys basketball he coached a winning girls cross country team this year the girls team came in first in state and his boys basketball team got 3rd at state! -His favorite color is blue and his Middle name L his favorite animal is a horse he loves to go backpacking on horses in his spare time and he just loves being outdoors. He loves living in a small town and loves any outdoor activity. His all time favorite sport is football and he has a family he is married with five kids. He is overall a great teacher and coach!!!!!!    There is always a lot going on at Bear Lake High School, So we decided to put it all in a blog post to ma ke it simpler for everyone. The Bears beat number 1 seed West Side twice in two days to avenge an earlier district tournament loss to the pirates and take the District 5 championship. The Bears will play Ambrose in the first round of the state tournament Thursday March 4th. Cheer: To wrap up the last couple of weeks of the cheer season the girls will be heading to Boise for State March 19th.
