Bears Prepare for Districts

Welcome Back Bears!!! This week we have a plethora of activities from Football and Volleyball to a social for FFA. 


To wrap up last weeks volleyball, the Lady Bears dominated Soda Spring Carnivals on Thursday and then the Malad Dragons in 4 sets in West Side for the District Tournament on Saturday. This week the Lady Bears take on the West Side Pirates in West Side on Wednesday in the District Tournament. The District Tournament is a double elimination. Neither Bear Lake or West Side have a loss.. The winner of the Bear Lake/ West Side game will advance to the championship on Friday in West Side, where as the loser will take on the winner of the Soda vs. Malad game, and they both have 1 loss. The Aberdeen Tigers have been tamed and are no longer in the tournament. 


The Bears are currently ranked 8th in the state football bracket! Hopefully we hold this place or move up because the top 11 are going to state. Last week in Soda, the Bears had a double overtime but lost 42- 36 to the Cardinals. Better luck next time!!! This week on Friday is a home game against Aberdeen, J.V starts at 4 pm with varsity following up at 7. Come enjoy a burger at the tailgate sponsored by FFA and John Adams Ford at 5, Good Luck Bears!!!

Cross-country runs at district on Wednesday here at Bear Lake. The girls races start at 3 and then the boys at 3:45 The top 2 teams and then the top 1/3 of the runners go to state.  Good luck to all of our Cross Country runners!

Spring has Sprung!

  Cheer: Cheer went to Boise over the weekend to complete. They did not place in the top three but still did amazing! You go Ladies!!! Tryouts for next year will be held on April 27-30. They will start at 6-30 pm. Softball - Varsity played great in Firth and Wendell last week  winning 18 to 3 in firth and 14 to 3 in Wendell and losing 9 to 8 in Preston and the JV losing 13 to 15 in Preston but having an amazing comeback. This week they are playing in Idaho Falls on Friday. Lakettes - The ladies finished up their season at districts at American Falls taking 3rd place in hip-hop and 4th in lyrical but sadly they did not make it to state. The Lakettes are going over to the middle school April 8th to go perform for the upcoming freshman class. They are then holding tryouts April 12th, 13th, 15th, and 19th from 5-7 in the A.J.   Teacher feature- Rick Sanders -He started working here in 2009 and hopes to retire here. He enjoys working here and Loves his subject. He teaches P.E. Health and athletic training as well as teaching he coaches. Mr Sanders coaches cross country and boys basketball he coached a winning girls cross country team this year the girls team came in first in state and his boys basketball team got 3rd at state! -His favorite color is blue and his Middle name L his favorite animal is a horse he loves to go backpacking on horses in his spare time and he just loves being outdoors. He loves living in a small town and loves any outdoor activity. His all time favorite sport is football and he has a family he is married with five kids. He is overall a great teacher and coach!!!!!! The Greatest Comeback since the Twinkie: BLHS Blog Returns

   There is always a lot going on at Bear Lake High School, So we decided to put it all in a blog post to ma ke it simpler for everyone. From sports, to the classroom, we are going to give weekly updates on what is happening in our school. The Bears beat number 1 seed West Side twice in two days to avenge an earlier district tournament loss to the pirates and take the District 5 championship. The Bears will play Ambrose in the first round of the state tournament Thursday March 4th. Cheer: To wrap up the last couple of weeks of the cheer season the girls will be heading to Boise for State March 19th.
