The Weekly Roar (September 29th)

Happy Tuesday everyone! 

Last week volleyball went to Malad for the first time in ten years on Wednesday night, where varsity won 3 sets to 0 then on Thursday they went to Grace and won 3 sets to 0 as well! Good job Lady Bears!!! 

Cross country last week had their meet home at Allinger park. Elise Kelsey, Kinsee Hansen, and Mitzi Hunt were the girls top three runners from Bear Lake and the boys top three runners from were Tyler Saunders, Taylor Roberts, and Sam Gertler! The Bear Lake girls finished 3rd overall, only losing to Highland and Pocatello. They will be running this week in Snake River on Friday.


Also on Friday, there was a football game home against West Side, but unfortunately, we lost in a very hard-fought battle 7-0. West Side's only touchdown of the game came early in the second quarter set up by a long pass play. Bear Lake played well against the number one team in the state. They will have their bye week this week and return to district play in 2 weeks vs. Malad.




As for this week there are two volleyball games. On Wednesday the game is home against Soda. C-team starts at 4. JV at 5 and Varsity at 7. The theme for Wednesday night is camo. Thursday's game is at West Side. If you can't make it out to the game this week, be sure to join us on nfhsnetwork.com where we will be broadcasting the game live! Sorry, we won't be able to go to West Side on Thursday due to poor internet service.



FFA will be evaluating soil in Soda Springs on Wednesday. Good luck!



November 7th is the Sadie Hawkins Dance from 7-10 pm. This is a girl's choice dance so get asking ladies!!!

Spring has Sprung!

  Cheer: Cheer went to Boise over the weekend to complete. They did not place in the top three but still did amazing! You go Ladies!!! Tryouts for next year will be held on April 27-30. They will start at 6-30 pm. Softball - Varsity played great in Firth and Wendell last week  winning 18 to 3 in firth and 14 to 3 in Wendell and losing 9 to 8 in Preston and the JV losing 13 to 15 in Preston but having an amazing comeback. This week they are playing in Idaho Falls on Friday. Lakettes - The ladies finished up their season at districts at American Falls taking 3rd place in hip-hop and 4th in lyrical but sadly they did not make it to state. The Lakettes are going over to the middle school April 8th to go perform for the upcoming freshman class. They are then holding tryouts April 12th, 13th, 15th, and 19th from 5-7 in the A.J.   Teacher feature- Rick Sanders -He started working here in 2009 and hopes to retire here. He enjoys working here and Loves his subject. He teaches P.E. Health and athletic training as well as teaching he coaches. Mr Sanders coaches cross country and boys basketball he coached a winning girls cross country team this year the girls team came in first in state and his boys basketball team got 3rd at state! -His favorite color is blue and his Middle name L his favorite animal is a horse he loves to go backpacking on horses in his spare time and he just loves being outdoors.    There is always a lot going on at Bear Lake High School, So we decided to put it all in a blog post to ma ke it simpler for everyone. From sports, to the classroom, we are going to give weekly updates on what is happening in our school. If there is anything that you would like to be mentioned or featured in the blog talk to Mr. Hiller or send an email to jhillier@blsd.net Boy's Basketball: The bears return to state after a one-year absence where they won the consolation championship in their last appearance in 2019. The Bears beat number 1 seed West Side twice in two days to avenge an earlier district tournament loss to the pirates and take the District 5 championship. The Bears will play Ambrose in the first round of the state tournament Thursday March 4th. Cheer: To wrap up the last couple of weeks of the cheer season the girls will be heading to Boise for State March 19th.
